Step into Spring with our free floral demonstrations at Country Baskets! The upcoming season is all about the new beginnings and fresh starts, bringing with them lush bright colours, which is what can be expected from the demonstrations that are taking place in a selection of our stores.

Dean Sharpe

Dean began his floristry journey studying at Moreton Morrell College where he qualified with a distinction for level 2 & 3.

He has achieved several awards over the years including gold at the UK World Skills competition in 2016, Bronze medal award at Chelsea Flower Show 2018 and hoping for more success at this year’s show 2019.

Dean now has his own business (Dean Sharpe’s Floral Studio) and works on large events and weddings throughout the UK working closely with all the brides and companies bringing their ideas to life.

Whilst running his business he is also currently enjoying demonstrating/Workshops/Masterclasses at different flower clubs all over the UK and showing others the styles that he love to create.

Dennis Van Wonderen

Dennis Van Wonderen

Dennis is an inspirational florist who brings his passion for flowers to every demonstration he hosts. After moving to England 15 years ago, Dennis decided to set up his own florist shop in 2007, with great success. His creativity and design have resulted in his reputation for trend-led and ornate designs that really stand out from the crowd.

He has won a gold medal at the Hampton Court Flower Show, which Dennis saw as one of his finest personal achievements. Dennis has created pieces which have received huge publicity such as bouquets for the Queen, the Duchess of Cambridge, and the official flowers for the Tour de France; he is truly in demand. He not only runs a flower shop but also runs a floristry school, where you can learn the skills you need to creating your own striking floral displays.

Jonathan Moseley

Jonathan Moseley

Jonathan Moseley is a renowned floral designer, he is passionate about flowers and draws upon his love of nature and his garden for many of his strikingly beautiful designs. He has worked within the floristry industry for 25 years and is currently the President of the North of England Horticultural Society.

Known for his role as the Floral Expert on BBC’s ‘Big Allotment Challenge’, Jonathan is recognised as a key figure in the world of flowers, and as someone who constantly innovates and applies great creativity to his floral displays.

Jonathan works closely with the RHS demonstrating and designing large scale floral instillations at their major shows including Chelsea, Hampton Court, Malvern, Tatton & Chatsworth. Jonathan regularly showcases his talents at Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons and has worked with many leading stately homes including Chatsworth, Woburn Abbey, Stonor Park and Renishaw Hall to name but a few.

Julie Pearson

Julie Pearson

Julie Pearson has many qualities which makes her a well-rounded and professional florist. Julie is a Designer, Demonstrator and Lecturer in the industry and has over thirty five year’s experience, which includes managing her own floral event company. She now teaches and demonstrates in the UK and parts of Europe, making her well known in the floristry world.

With Julie being a passionate educator she has achieved the City & Guilds Professional award and is an Academic Fellow of the Institute of Professional Florists. She has been demonstrating for many years with many organisations and for many events including Country Baskets seasonal demonstrations, passing her knowledge and techniques on to the next generation of florists.

Ian Lloyd

Ian Lloyd

Ian Lloyd is one of our most experienced demonstrators and runs a beautiful florist shop in Wilmslow, Cheshire which was named in the top 10 florists in the country by the newspaper The Independent. He has demonstrated in 15 different countries, sharing his knowledge with the world and established and ran The Uk School of Floristry for many years.

Many of his works have featured in national magazines and television shows. Ian is a renouned wedding florist helping to bring peoples dreams to life with his expert team. They have many years experience and have dressed venues such as Caverswall Castle and Rowton Castle for weddings. Ian is also an International Floristry Judge.

Vanessa Wellock

Vanessa Wellock

Vanessa Wellock is not only known for her unique dress sense of studded toe capped patent leather boots but also an all round talented freelance florist of thirty years, a Nafas demonstrator and RHS Chelsea Silver medallist 2018. She travels extensively around the Uk giving workshops on her unique natural country style.

Vanessa's Yorkshire based wedding and event company is wildflowersuk.co.uk based in Ilkley, where she designs flowers for the respected The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel Bolton Abbey.

Vanessa first worked for Country Baskets at the Leeds Flower Festival 2018 where she dressed the Chapel in flowers for ladies day.

Heidi Lawley

Heidi Lawley

Heidi started competing at a young age and at seventeen was crowned runner up in the British Florist Association – Young Florist of the Year, and became a UK finalist in the World Skills floristry competition. She was then approached and had the opportunity to work in London along side some fantastic designers.

She is a proud winner of Chelsea RHS Gold and silver medals which has lead her onto teaching and demonstrating all over the country. Now with a wonderful Flower School and an exciting new company, HeiDesign based in Offham where she makes memories with flowers.

Helen Jamieson

Helen Jamieson is one of England’s most outstanding floral designers, a third generation florist whose grandfather started in the flower business as a grower and then as a trader in the local market.
The business evolved into a flower shop 41 years ago, and when Helen decided floristry was her chosen career she opened up a second shop. FIori of Whickham, Newcastle upon Tyne. Fiori is a thriving family businesses where attention to detail, customer service and stylish design are their recipes for success.
No stranger to competition work, Helen was Teleflorist Designer of the Year in 2007 and went on to compete in the Teleflor World Cup in Tokyo, Japan. Her work as a freelance designer has involved her in many demonstrations, workshops and campaigns both in UK and worldwide.
Helen is a Floral Fundamentals Ambassador where she has been chosen to help to promote the Dutch Flower Industry, with her floral skills, and Industrial Knowledge.
A Chelsea Flower Show medalist, Helen is a valued Ambassador and teacher for various Floral Products where her innovative yet commercial designs make her an inspiring demonstrator and style consultant.
Helen’s says, “My style of work is constantly evolving, my signature designs are simple and natural with emphasis on form and colour. I have to strike a balance between high design and the needs of my customers to ensure the business is focused on sales and profit.

What's On?

These events will be focused on seasonal flowers, colour palettes and decorations which are sure to create relevant and on-trend arrangements! The selected florist for each of the stores will be creating beautiful pieces on the day as well as answering questions and giving advice from their experiences.

The day is spread out into three demonstrations by the florist, the first will be at 10:30am - 11:30am with the next being at 12pm - 1pm and finishing off the day with 1:30pm - 2:30pm. Each of these demonstrations will be unique with a number of creations being used as raffle prizes at the end of the day, and funds raised going to selected charities.
