Helen Jamieson

Helen Jamieson is one of England’s most outstanding floral designers, a third generation florist whose grandfather started in the flower business as a grower and then as a trader in the local market.
The business evolved into a flower shop 41 years ago, and when Helen decided floristry was her chosen career she opened up a second shop. FIori of Whickham, Newcastle upon Tyne. Fiori is a thriving family businesses where attention to detail, customer service and stylish design are their recipes for success.
No stranger to competition work, Helen was Teleflorist Designer of the Year in 2007 and went on to compete in the Teleflor World Cup in Tokyo, Japan. Her work as a freelance designer has involved her in many demonstrations, workshops and campaigns both in UK and worldwide.
Helen is a Floral Fundamentals Ambassador where she has been chosen to help to promote the Dutch Flower Industry, with her floral skills, and Industrial Knowledge.
A Chelsea Flower Show medalist, Helen is a valued Ambassador and teacher for various Floral Products where her innovative yet commercial designs make her an inspiring demonstrator and style consultant.
Helen’s says, “My style of work is constantly evolving, my signature designs are simple and natural with emphasis on form and colour. I have to strike a balance between high design and the needs of my customers to ensure the business is focused on sales and profit.

Laura Leong

Laura Leong

Laura Leong has been working with flowers for almost thirty years. Laura works both as a commercial florist, a wedding designer, lecturer and demonstrator. Competitions have played a major part in Laura's success, she has represented the Uk at Europa Cup and has twice been awarded "Chelsea Florist of the Year" in 2013 and 2015, along with Fusion Flowers International Designer and Fusion Flowers Fabulous Freesia Winner.

Laura is an experienced teacher and a popular demonstrator who is very happy to answer any questions and to give advice. Laura is honoured to be a Floral Fundamentals ambassador and has had the honour of having a carnation named after her. Innovation, craftwork and an attention to detail are key features of Laura's work.

James Billington

James started to work with flowers at the tender age of 13 and has been in the flower trade for over 22 years. He is now the in-house florist at The Midland Hotel in Manchester and owns his own event floristry business called Citiblooms Ltd.
Having worked with the largest event florists in the UK, James has gathered a vast amount of skills and techniques to share with others. James has the ability to create ideas and designs to inspire any florist who wants to learn.

Dennis Van Wonderen

Dennis is an inspirational florist who brings his passion for flowers to every demonstration he hosts. After moving to England 15 years ago, Dennis decided to set up his own florist shop in 2007, with great success. His creativity and design have resulted in his reputation for trend-led and ornate designs that really stand out from the crowd.

He has won a gold medal at the Hampton Court Flower Show, which Dennis saw as one of his finest personal achievements. Dennis has created pieces which have received huge publicity such as bouquets for the Queen, the Duchess of Cambridge, and the official flowers for the Tour de France; he is truly in demand. He not only runs a flower shop but also runs a floristry school, where you can learn the skills you need to creating your own striking floral displays.

Julie Pearson

Julie Pearson

Julie Peason has many qualities which makes her a well-rounded and professional florist. Julie is a Designer, Demonstrator and Lecturer in the industry and has over thirty five year’s experience, which includes managing her own floral event company. She now teaches and demonstrates in the UK and parts of Europe, making her well know in the floristry world.

With Julie being a passionate educator she has achieved the City & Guilds Professional award and is an Academic Fellow of the Institute of Professional Florists. She has been demonstrating for many years with many organisations and for many events including Country Baskets seasonal demonstrations, passing her knowledge and techniques on to the next generation of florists.

Dean Sharpe

Dean Sharpe

Dean began his floristry journey studying at Moreton Morall Collage where he qualified with distinction for level 2, he's now coming towards the end of the level 3. Whilst studying, he was encouraged to enter national floristry competitions.
Where he achieved several awards over the years including gold at the UK World Skills competition in 2016.
More recently, he won first place at the Chelsea heats in November of last year and is really hoping for a place in the final 16 in May 2018.
He now has his own business (Dean Sharpe’s Floral Studio) and works on large events and weddings throughout the UK.
Whilst also currently enjoying demonstrating at different flower clubs all over the UK and showing others the styles that he love to create.

Anthony Williams

Anthony Williams

Training alongside Neil, Anthony has gained not only his NDSF qualification in 2004 but also his AIFD in 2005. Co-owner of Manchester based The Design Element, Anthony demonstrates and teaches his floristry skills and shares his knowledge all over the world and uses these presentational skills to ensure all his demonstrations inform and impress in equal measures. Anthony's knowledge of floristry competition requirements and standards has made him much sought-after by UK representatives entering national and international competitions.

His knowledge and experience in competitions allows people to develop their own skills while learning how to meet competition requirements. His vision and ability to create design-led and on trend pieces result in some fantastic displays and ideas that you can take with you to inspire your own creations.

Ian Baxter

Ian Baxter

Ian’s love of floral arrangement dates as far back as the 60’s, when as a young boy he would create table arrangements with flowers for his family’s catering business. He went on to join the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS), subsequently passing the NAFAS Area Demonstrators’ Test and from then on the National Demonstrators Test. He is also a NAFAS judge, and in 2003 led the NAFAS exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show, which was awarded a unanimous Gold medal.
Ian is internationally renowned for his unique and innovative floral designs having travelled extensively showcasing his skills, including such exotic venues in Sri Lanka and Canada and has won a large number of awards for his perfect creativity.
Ian has over 30 years experience. He is a NAFAS judge and for three years Ian served as the Area Judges' Representative and was awarded an Associate of Merit of the North Midlands Area. Ian continues to enjoy competing in floral art and exhibits regularly adding to his previous awards.

What's On?

Come, be inspired at our events, a perfect place to absorb all things Wedding. Be enlightened by old skills, be excited by new trends, borrow a technique or two, and wander our store to buy all things blue! Stay captivated as three unique arrangements will be skillfully created in front of your eyes.

As well as giving three animated and energising demonstrations, the florist will be there to answer questions and give advice throughout. The three demonstrations are spread throughout the day, all lasting an hour long. The first starts at 10.30am, the second starts at 12pm and the third starts at 1.30pm. Join us for the day, or just an hour, but don’t miss out.

Some of the final creations will become raffle prizes for winning at the end of each demonstration, and the funds raised will go to selected charities.
