Wedding Wednesday: Unique Bridal Bouquets!

Posted by Jessica Walton on 23rd Nov 2016

A lot of thought goes into your big day and as the main bridal accessory flowers are a key part. Bridal bouquets need to be in keeping with the theme of the wedding, they must be easy to carry and robust in order to last the whole day. When designing a bouquet your florist will consider your theme, the style and fabric of your dress, the time of the year and your height (including your heels!). Your bouquet must form a focal point in your whole ensemble and must be balanced both visually and in reality so it is comfortable to carry, as you and your attendants need to look relaxed and natural while carrying the bouquet.

Natural hand tied bouquets have been by far the most popular bridal bouquet over the last 10 years and recently they have taken on a much more natural and free form. We have seen a resurgence of the formal shower or cascade bouquet but flower design is racing ahead, with lots of new excitingly innovative ideas incorporating gorgeous trims and exciting accessories.

We were very lucky to have the opportunity to watch the very talented Laura Leong (one of our Use Them or Lose Them florists) demonstrate alternative bridal designs at Fleurex in the main auditorium and see the designs modelled on the catwalk and she certainly blew us away with the lovely romantic feel to what were essentially very different bridal designs.

We have included a selection of her gorgeous and innovative bridal bouquets incorporating a wealth of materials including lace and cork on a roll, fabric wrap and the very beautiful and delicate steppe.
