The Country Baskets design team have been out in full force once again, this time setting the stage for ‘Le Grand Depart 100 Days Dinner’ at the prestigious Ripon Cathedral.

This magnificent Gala dinner marked day 1 of the 100 day countdown to Le Tour de France’s Grand Depart, attracting over 300 attendees including; French Cycling Legend Bernard Hinault, who won the race 5 times and Yorkshire’s own Brian Robinson, the first Brit to win a Tour stage, also bringing together businesses in Yorkshire that share an ambition and a passion to showcase the very best the county has to offer.

As a member of an exclusive group of companies to support Welcome to Yorkshire, it was no surprise when Country Baskets were asked to develop and create a theme that both; compliments the 12th century gothic character of the Cathedral, and, communicates the ‘Tour de France’ theme.

Country Baskets creative developer and 5 times RHS Chelsea gold winner Tracy Rowbottom headed a team 9 consisting of 6 eager volunteers and Leeds-based florists Sue Clarke & Bev Jelf, for the 3 day build.

Tracy said she was “delighted to work with Welcome to Yorkshire on such a prestigious event”. Adding it was a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity to decorate such a beautiful venue (...) the magnitude and atmosphere took our breath away.”

Having worked in the floristry industry for many years prior to joining Country Baskets, Tracy felt this was a great opportunity for Country Baskets to help augment the profile of high level floristry and give local florists and volunteers a great opportunity to get involved; stating that; “it was a delight to see both our logistics team and florists from the community working together to produce a testament to high-end floristry at its very best.”

After 3 days of hard-graft, followed by a sigh of relief, the team were not only congratulated on a job well done but invited back to prepare the venue for the ‘Eve of Tour Dinner’ at the Leeds Arena on 4th July, followed by the ‘Viva le Tour Dinner’ at Harrogate’s Royal Hall on the 5th.
