How-to: Fresh Orchid Corsage

Posted by Jessica Walton on 3rd May 2017

This fresh flower corsage is the perfect project for yourself or as a gift for a special someone, it is an elegant accessory with a unique twist making it a stand out piece that will turn heads. The use of coloured aluminium wire with the contrasting fresh orchids makes this corsage a unique and fun piece.

You will need
3x colours aluminium wire
1 roll decorative wire
Oasis Glue
Pins
3x fresh cymbidium orchid (real flowers)

Step One
Cut and wind the aluminium wire in a circular design, using items like sticks, pencils or paint brushes will make this easier. You will need to make each of the wire bases separately so they can be different shapes, sizes and colours.

Step Two
Mold the three decorative forms together to create a frame for the design, when doing this make sure not to unwind the decorative designs of the wire that you have already done.

Step Three
Cut three fresh orchids leaving approx 2cm of stem, take a decorative pin and cut it down so it will fit inside the flower then push it up into the stem to creative a neat and pretty finish. Add some oasis glue to the back of the orchids and set aside while you do the next step.

Step Four
Wind the thin decorative wire around something slim like a pencil or paint brush to form a spring, when you are happy you have enough remove and flatten down the spring into a spiral.

Step Five
The glue on the orchids will now be tacky so you can position them onto the aluminium wire frame and just wait a few seconds until they are firmly bonded.

Step Six
Take the decorative wire spirals and weave through the design you have created, securing them by twisting at each end.

Step Seven
Pull lots of decorative wire off the roll and scrunch up in the palm of your hand, when it is tightly scrunched form it into a heart shape and glue in a prominent position in your design.
